When should my child’s first dental appointment be?
We recommend bringing your child to our office by 3 years of age so they can have their teeth checked and gently cleaned. Your child will enjoy playing with our toys in the waiting room, “going for a ride” in the dental chair, and picking a fun prize from our toy box at the end! Some children prefer to sit on Mom’s lap during the visit and some prefer to be more independent once they see that their parent is also comfortable in the dental chair.
Why are the baby teeth important?
- It is very important that a child’s baby teeth remain healthy and hold the space for the developing adult teeth underneath.
- Many parents do not realize that cavities grow much faster in baby teeth than they do in adult teeth and so it is crucial that we ensure your child’s teeth are healthy while at the same time providing your child with a positive dental experience.
The importance of a positive dental experience for your child
We strongly believe that children should have positive experiences at the dentist early in life. There are so many adult patients who have unexplained anxiety at the dental office and it is simply because they had a bad dental experience as a child which stays with them for life. Have your child get used to our dental office environment and used to our friendly staff to help build positive experiences at a young age.
