When you visit Highview Dental, you will receive a thorough, comprehensive examination which will include the following:

• Complete Medical and Health History review.  Many people do not realize the impact that whole body health can have on your dental condition and on dental treatment.
• Temperomandibular Joint (TMJ) examination.  A variety of symptoms including headaches and stiff jaw can result from TMJ issues.
• Detailed examination of your bite.  This is known as your “Occlusion“.
• Thorough Oral Cancer Screening/examination.  This is one of the deadliest forms of cancer and early detection is crucial,
• Check for cavities and an assessment of your Risk for Cavities (called “caries risk”).
• Screening for gum diseases such as Gingivitis and Periodontitis including a check for gum recession and gum pocketing.  A detailed measurement of your existing periodontal (gum) condition will be recorded.
• Check for teeth with Worn or Eroded Enamel.  This can cause weak or sensitive teeth and can be a sign of bruxism, acid reflux or other issues.
• Note any teeth with Fractures and any teeth which are at risk for future fracture.
• Check for other signs of Clenching or Grinding of the teeth (Bruxism).  Bruxism can be extremely destrutive to your teeth and most people are completely unaware that they clench or grind.
